Person-Centered Counselling and Supervision

I have been a practicing counsellor for 15 years, with experience of a broad range of people, ages and issues. In the past I worked with clients in a GP practice and a community health service. I currently have my own private practice, and work with students in a university counselling service. I have a wider background of over 20 years in the voluntary sector, supporting parents caring for disabled children and people with mental health difficulties.

I work in a person-centred way. Central to this approach is the belief that we each have an innate wisdom and that, given the right circumstances, we all naturally tend towards positive growth. Person-centred counselling works by creating an environment in which the client feels understood, respected and accepted, and where they experience the counsellor as open and genuine. I aim to meet clients in a warm, attentive and responsive way, enabling clients to connect with their inner resources and determine their own way forward.

To support and develop my practice I have regular supervision and attend workshops and training events throughout the year.
